[i'll let you mess around with it, amara had said regarding her ECHO device. she didn't have it then, but in an amazing turn of events... she has it now! incredible. guess that blessings basket is legit.

she intends to keep her word, given that she's quite fond of peter and he most definitely needs cheering up, so... while all her personal items are mostly wiped from the device, she locks out the recording section so peter couldn't accidentally play something personal out loud, then calls him up and asks if he wants to meet for lunch.

see, amara isn't just extra with her powers and heroics. can you really call yourself extra if it doesn't extend to every single part of you?

she shows up after peter, after not mentioning her ECHO, then taps one of the digistruct deployment buttons for something she scanned earlier.

it's a chair.

it forms a couple of inches off the ground with a small flash, looking like it's literally downloading out the device inside a second or two, then plops onto the ground. amara sits on it.

it's backwards. for maximum cool.]

[Geez, why do so many people think he needs cheering up? It's like they have some kind of sixth sense... A Peter Sense... A Spider Sense? Anyway, he totally doesn't need cheering up. He's not even wearing his depression hoodie (tm) today, so that means he's clearly back to his usual ol' self.

Anyway, he's thoughtlessly gazing out of the cafe window when she arrives, and what follows his very much enough to brighten his dreary ol' headspace; he grins, looking to the chair and the gal plopping down into it.]

I'm about to fan myself in awe here, Amara. You totally knew you'd get me acting embarrassing! Is this fancy-wancy ECHO you've been hyping me up about?

[unfortuantely for peter, amara has eyes and a brain. a brain she uses, sometimes. that aside, it would be nice to hang out with peter without an immediate threat of death, anyway. so sue her, she wants some indulgence.]

Oh, yeah. I got your number, Ordinary-Man. [she slides the device across the table towards him.] Poke around, see what else I scanned in for you to digistruct.

[...speaking of using her brain, she doesn't think to mention for him to not poke the option that'll take the chair back into the device. woops.

whenever peter activates it, a holographic screen will pop up above the device, with little pixelated images floating around on the actual screen. it has a picture of amara in the centre - indicating that's the profile picture she chose for herself - an empty left-hand column (grenade module, shield module, eridium artifact, ammo bags and quick select for weaponry) along with some thumbnail pictures of the stuff she scanned in on the right. tragically the eridium currency reads at 0 and her dollar balance is only around $20. this is most definitely the closest thing you'd get to a video game inventory in reality.

on the left of the menu, the left diamond shape is locked out, the map will only show the cafe they're in and everything else aside from the backpack is empty. annoying!]

I'll show you how to scan stuff into it to play around with as well, if you want.

[there's only three other items in there. the chair (currently out), a book, a mug which says "bad bitch" written on marker on it and what looks like an alarm clock.]

Heh. It creates the specs as you put the item in, though with so many people scanning stuff over six galaxies, it's pretty rare to find something that someone hasn't put in at some point. [...] It went off this morning and I wanted another five minutes. Snooze button, temporarily remove it from existing plane of reality... poytato, pohtato.

[The gun gun sounds like his worst nightmare; the last thing he needs is more guns in a room full of criminals, okay. But you can see the weird mad scientist gleam in his eye as he hunkers down and studies the device with interest.]

Here, look. It tracks the location, too. [she switches the digistruct screen to the map one. it does indeed show where they are in basic shapes, and the route amara took to get here.] Usually it tracks better, but not here. Can't say I'm surprised.

Oh, don't worry too much. There's a library where I'm sure there's a section just for idiots like me.

Man... This is pretty fancy. I actually got some maps programmed into my mask and Fluid — it's nothing that complicated, though. I just made some generic maps on my rinky-dink laptop. [He laughs under his breath.] I'll bet the size of the map here is nothing compared to home?

Not bad. The only reason this tech exists is because some company got lucky with alien tech a while ago.

[where would they be without it? amara doesn't know, but it's certainly more impressive to know what peter did, he did himself.]

Home is a planet, so no. I've probably auto-generated one of the most detailed ones of Partali, given how much I was in and around the streets.

Sirens, you said? I think you mentioned those back in Rapture, right? I mean, I'll have to be honest — I was, um. Pretty messed up back there, so not everything stuck very clearly.

[amara sits back to give him space with the tinkering, watching with a bemused expression. it's nice to see him happy for a change-- given the last few times they'd encountered each other they were both in serious danger of death. not something new for either of them, but you know. it's nice to remember that there are other ways of existing.]

It's alright. It wasn't really the time to ask for exposition, was it? [she had way too much fun kicking the villain's shit in, anyway. she knows not to mention this: she assumes peter might've been close with the others if he had known the doctopus in the way he did. it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine the man turned people against him.] It's what I am. Not quite human, but not quite alien, either. Only six of us can exist at any one time. It's a whooooole thing. We are the strongest beings in the galaxies and as feared as we are revered. Our powers pass on when we die, via choosing an inheritor or a random female-identifying person. I was not chosen, and I don't know anything about the Siren who passed on her powers.

We know some things instinctually, but not everything. Just enough for it to be frustrating. But isn't that how it always goes with things like these? Were you born with yours?

Believe it or not, the webbing's not even something I got from the spider; I just figured I should stick with the aesthetic. And, y'know, have a good way to get around a city full of giant skyscrapers.

[there's a short pause as she looks around, then ends up focusing on the empty table next to them. her tattoos glow as she focuses and...
